| Here
at Sukhothai we study the traditional art of Muay
Thai. The syllabus includes strikes with
all parts of the body, Fists, Feet, Elbows &
Knees, also throws, locks and chokes from
Sukhothai's Mixed Martial Arts self protection
system. We aim to provide a complete system
and teach a wide variety of techniques,
incorporating both the traditional and sport side of
the art.
We base our Muay
Thai strategies around Mae Mai and Luk Mai (Master
and Complementary tricks). Each school has
variations of the techniques, but it is generally
accepted that each school has 15 Master and 15
Complementary tricks. Please

Muay Thai Boxing is
practical, spectacular and great for fitness and
general well being, even after a short while, you
will begin to see and feel the benefits. It
suits everyone regardless of age, weight, height or
gender as the techniques are so effective and
proven.
There is a full
grading syllabus so that your increasing ability can
be recognised. Achievement certificates and
armband grades denoting the achieved rank/level will
be issued to you on completion of each test passed (gradings
are optional and not compulsory).
For those who like to compete you may wish to enter
various interclub competitions held throughout the
year, this is a good and safe way to test your
skills within a controlled environment. For an
exclusive few, professional full contact fighting is
an option. It is not for everyone and
takes extreme dedication in order to qualify.
Sukhothai over the years has produced many champions
including 3 times Women's World Champion KRU Karen
"9mm" Ousey, World Kickboxing Champion
Carl Drake and Double British Muay Thai Champion KRU
Howard Hughes.
