STYLES - MUAY THAI BOXING
Here at Sukhothai we study the traditional art of Muay Thai.   The syllabus includes strikes with all parts of the body, Fists, Feet, Elbows & Knees, also throws, locks and chokes from Sukhothai's Mixed Martial Arts self protection system.  We aim to provide a complete system and teach a wide variety of techniques, incorporating both the traditional and sport side of the art.

We base our Muay Thai strategies around Mae Mai and Luk Mai (Master and Complementary tricks).  Each school has variations of the techniques, but it is generally accepted that each school has 15 Master and 15 Complementary tricks.  Please click here for further information.

Muay Thai Boxing is practical, spectacular and great for fitness and general well being, even after a short while, you will begin to see and feel the benefits.  It suits everyone regardless of age, weight, height or gender as the techniques are so effective and proven.

There is a full grading syllabus so that your increasing ability can be recognised.  Achievement certificates and armband grades denoting the achieved rank/level will be issued to you on completion of each test passed (gradings are optional and not compulsory).

For those who like to compete you may wish to enter various interclub competitions held throughout the year, this is a good and safe way to test your skills within a controlled environment.  For an exclusive few, professional full contact fighting is an option.   It is not for everyone and takes extreme dedication in order to qualify.
Sukhothai over the years has produced many champions including 3 times Women's World Champion KRU Karen "9mm" Ousey, World Kickboxing Champion Carl Drake and Double British Muay Thai Champion KRU Howard Hughes.

STYLES - SELF PROTECTION for the street
Sukhothai's other key focus is on self-protection for the street.

Sukhothai not only utilises techniques from a multitude of other martial arts systems namely Muay Thai, Muay Boran, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Escrima but also promotes and encourages freethinking with an 'anything goes' attitude, which is rarely found in traditional Martial Art systems.

The physical capabilities combined with the psychological awareness and learning of ones reactions and thoughts makes this type of system one of the most dynamic and realistic Martial Arts concepts for the modern day.

Sukhothai has something for everyone and is open to everyone.  If you want to train hard, feel confident, train in an encouraging and friendly environment and see constant improvement in your own goals then Sukhothai is for you.
