FAQ
|
| What
Martial Arts do you cover? |
| We
cover predominantly Muay Thai Boxing, which covers,
Punch, Elbow, Knee, Kick, Clinch and Throws.
We also include Brazilian Jiu Jitsu ground fighting
techniques to provide a full fighting system. |
| There
seems so many Martial Arts and Fighting
Methods out there. Why Muay Thai
Boxing? |
| Muay
Thai Boxing has been around for around 2000
- 3000 years. It is proven as the
ultimate full contact fighting system, for
sport and self protection. To add to this,
most of the top Ultimate fighting world
champions (UFC, Pride, Cage Rage) at all
weight categories have Muay Thai as their
core striking system. |
| Can
anyone teach Muay Thai Boxing? |
| All
instructors who represent Sukhothai, have been
trained and graded by 2 times British Champion KRU
Howard Hughes and world renowned Master - Master
Sken. They have also had personal training
from other World Champion fighters & trainers. |
| Muay
Thai Boxing seems a very physical Martial Art. Will
I need to fight? |
| Not
at all. We offer students the chance to
participate in all areas of Muay Thai including
sparring or Full Contact fighting.
Most people choose to just train to get fit, lose
weight or to get rid of there frustrations on the
pads. |
| How
would you sum up the atmosphere in the club? |
It
is a family run club with a very friendly,
encouraging atmosphere. All classes are very
high cardio, energetic and physical but very
rewarding.
One of the unique features of Sukhothai is that the
turnover of students is very small. The club is
solely built on recommendations. |
| How
much does it cost to train? |
| We
use a flexible PAY AS YOU GO system. It costs
£6.00 for adults and £3.00 for children under 12,
per session. |
| Are
there any other additional fees? |
| After
4-6 weeks of training you will need to purchase a
Sukhothai membership. The cost of this is £20.00
per year for adults and £10.00 per year for
children. |
| Are
there any grading fees? |
| Each
grading costs £10.00 for adults and £5.00 for
children. As you reach the higher grades this
doubles to £20.00 for adults and £10.00 for
children. |
| How
long do your classes last for |
| Children's
classes generally last for 1 hour and adult classes
up to 1.5 hours per session. |
| How
do your grading fees compare to other clubs? |
| In
general most clubs/associations charge the same
amount to grade. Some clubs don't charge to
grade but then charge between £150 - £200 to take
the black belt. So it's always worth double
checking. |
| Why
do you need a Sukhothai membership? |
| It
is a requirement of the governing body and it
enables you to be able to grade and enter Sukhothai
Interclubs. |
| Do
you need to wear a specific uniform? |
| When
you first start training, you can wear lose
comfortable clothing i.e shorts, tracksuit bottoms
and t-shirt. After 4-6 weeks of training, we
like students to wear club t-shirt, shorts and
anklets. |
| Do
I need to be fit before I start training? |
| No
not at all. The idea of starting training is
to get fit. We assess each persons needs
on an individual basis and encourage you to meet
your own goals and targets, whilst supporting you
all the way. |
